Hi there! I’m Away Dave.
It was July 11th, 2010, when I fell in love with soccer. Casually watching World Cup South Africa with a friend from Spain, I saw the passion and intricacy that made soccer such an amazing game. There are so many different facets of the game that I’ve grown to enjoy: history, tactics, statistics, personal accounts, books, jerseys, and leagues worldwide.
My goal with this project is to detail traveling to games through the United States soccer pyramid. Each match I attend has two articles: the match report and the guide. The match report is the highlights, interviews, and written account of the game as best as I can bring it to you. The guide is tied to the town or city of the home team. It’s designed to help anyone traveling to the game. It might feature directions, what to expect with parking, how much a game costs, or where to buy merchandise. With my journey to each match, I also seek out one historical attraction and one restaurant to try in the area. Just like supporting lower league soccer, there are a lot of hidden gems you wouldn’t otherwise hear about.
I hope to convince my followers, new fans or old, to go to one of these games. I know you’ll have a great experience, learn a lot, and have fun! That’s why I say where I go, you should follow!
